New Variety of Yellow Sarson Pitambri |
A
variety of yellow Sarson 'PITAMBRI' has been developed
and got identified for release by Oilseed Section
of Chandra Shekher Azad University of Agriculture
and Technology, Kanpur,
Kanpur
AICRP (R&M) project has developed about one dozen variety in Toria and Rai for various
conditions as per demand of farmers but yellow
sarson variety could not be made available to
the farmers for last about 50 years. "Pitambri" is only variety of yellow sarson which has been identified during XVI All India
Coordinator 'Rapeseed-Mustard' annual group meeting
of scientists working on this crop throughout
the country held at Nagpur from August 6-8',2009.
PItambri has
given about 20-30% higher yield than National
cheek varieties in the yield trials.
It
matures in 110-115 days, gives 18-20 q/ha yield
and 42.8% oil (600kg/ha oil).The proper sowing
time is first fort night of September. The Scientists
responsible for development of 'Pitambri' are
Prof. Ranjeet, Mahak Singh, Dr. R.K.Dixit, Dr.
Lalta Prasad and Dr. SBL Srivastava. |
