Krishi Vigyan Kendra , Thariaon, Fatehpur is working since 1989 under umbrella of Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur. It is located on the NH-2 (GT Road) in between Allahabad and Kanpur, 23 Kms away from district headquarter Fatehpur.Fatehpur district is one of the 71 districts of Utter Pradesh state in northern India. It lies between the parallel of 35-260’ and 26-160’ north latitude & between 80-140’ and 81-200’ east longitude spreading about 104 km from west to east longitude and about 40 km from south to north. The sacred rivers Ganga and Yamuna surround the District.

This district is situated between two important cities namely, Allahabad ( which is also known as “Prayag”) and Kanpur of state Uttar Pradesh. This is well connected with these cities by train route as well as road route. Fatehpur city is situated on National Highway No.2, earlier known as Mughal Road. The distance of Fatehpur city from Allahabad is 117 km and from Kanpur it is 76 km by railway.

Major farming systems / enterprises (based on the analysis made by the KVK):

1	AES-III is most crop intensive. Rice-wheat, Rice-potato-chillies; Rice-wheat-sugarcane etc. crop Rotations are practiced in this AES. In AES I, the mixed cropping combinations of jowar + arhar + moong, / urd +til is practiced. Fallow-gram /lentil is also grown in AES I. In AES IV, (affected with sodicity) mostly Rice-wheat is grown.
2	Potato & chillies are important vegetable crops grown in AES III & IV in the cropping systems of dhaincha – potato moong -fallow; paddy-potato-moong; chillies-gram / wheat, etc.
3	Aonla & banana are new introductions grown along the river Gangs, now expanding to other areas also. The market support is good where grown in pockets.
4	Muskmelon & watermelon are grown in riverbeds. Sugarcane grown for juice purpose, raising buffalo heifers for sale and gur making in Dhata are special components of the existing farming systems.
5	District lacks the high value agro-forestry plantations and the existing plantations like Mahua, do not have technical & developmental support, which is must.

District Fatehpur lies in Central Plane Zone “V” of U.P.( Agro-climatic Zone). It lies between the parallel of 35- 260′ and 26- 160′ north latitude & between 80-140′ and 81-200′ east longitude spreading about 104 km from west to east longitude and about 40 km from south to north.

The district is characterized by semi-humid as per standard climatic classification. Average rainfall of the district is 904 mm. Maximum temperature 42OC to 43OC & minimum average temperature goes up to 6Oc.Relative humidity of the district is 66. The climate of the district could be described as semi arid. 	d).Ganga low lands (Fatehpur Type-4)	Developed from Ganga alluvium, mature clay loam to clayey, grey brown, ferruginous mottling, hard and compact, low soluble salts slightly acidic to neutral imperfect drainage.
