Infrastructure and facilities available in the department
 
The department owns hundred year old building constructed during British period covering an area of 927 sq M. It embodies sitting rooms, lecture theatres, laboratories, equipments and computer labs, etc. [Lay-out plan enclosed]
 
Building:
The department owns a British period building which include 2 lecture theatres; 2 practical room; seed pathology lab.; plant virology, bacteriology and IPM lab. of chick wilt with conference room and exhibition gallery (under construction); one glasshouse (under renovation); one jolly house; spawn production lab. (Under construction); multimedia lab.; computer lab.; bio-control lab.; Committee hall equipped with sound system and central instrument lab. (an university facility)
 
Equipments:
Basic equipments include student microscopes, sophisticated advanced compound and stereoscopic microscopes with camera and CCTV, electronic balance, Oven, BOD incubators, PCR, Gel doc, ELISA reader, Gel electrophoresis, pH meter, deep freeze (-20 degree Celsius), OHP and slide projectors. LCD projector, digital camera.
 
Books:
Basic plant pathological books are available in the central Library as well as departmental book club. The departmental book club is regularly enriched with the books and journals and bulletins donated by the retired faculty members. It also caters the news papers subscribed by the faculty members of the department
   
 
During last four years sufficient infrastructure has been developed besides the achievements by the faculty member and the students of the department as listed below:
  • A research laboratory equipped with aseptic inoculation chamber, temperature controlled incubation chamber fitted artificial light, NUV light lamps, aseptic dust proof room having recent stereoscopic microscopes, compound microscope with photographic and CCTV arrangements, other instruments was established for diagnosing the seed-borne pathogens in regular seed health testing programme during the 1995-96.
  • Under DST-FIST Level I funding I have been able to establish
  • A computer lab with internet facilities for the students and staff members of the department during 2005. This lab contains six computers, net work, and printers.
  • A molecular lab equipped with gel electrophoresis, PCR and stereoscopic microscope with photographic arrangements
  • Under ICAR-IPM funded scheme the B.Sc.(Ag) has been renovated and labs for the production of NPV, Pseudomonas and Trichoderma have been developed. A provision for a training cum conference hall equipped with the modern audio-visual projections during 2006-07.
  • Under Macro-mode Yojana and Mega Seed Production Schemes of U.P. Govt. and Government of India respectively, spawn production labs with equipments and mushroom production room have been developed. This lab has been generating fund by selling the spawn of four species of mushroom.
  • Setting up of facilities for Hand on training on ‘Production and Processing of mushroom’ and ‘Development of methodology of multimedia package for agriculture communication’ for UG students under ICAR funded scheme for experimental learning.
