 COLLEGE PROFILE
 
Baba Sahab Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, Etawah was established during the year 1994-95. This college is a faculty of Technology of Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur-UP The foundation stone of the College was laid down by Hon’ble Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji, the then Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh on 8th October 1994. The main motto of the College is to make provision for education of rural people of Uttar Pradesh and provide good facilities for research and extension in the field of Agricultural Engineering and Technology. The B Tech degree programme in Agricultural Engineering was started in academic year 1994-95 with an annual intake of 60 students. So far thirteen batches have passed out and the fourteen batch is likely pass out in year August, 2011. B Tech degree programme in other disciplines viz Electronics & Communication Engg and Computer Science and Engg have been started from the academic session 2002-03 & Mechanical Engg has also been started from the academic session 2003-04 respectively having intake capacity of 40 students in each disciplines. The sixt batch of B.Tech. Electronics & Communication Engg and Computer Science and Engg is likely pass out in year August, 2011 and forth batch of B.Tech. Mechanical Engg is likely pass out in year August, 2011.

CAET, Etawah is spread over an area of about 95 acres. Beside this, there is a demonstration farm of 6 acres. The construction of Workshop, Academic Building, Library, Advance Research Centre, Medical Health Centre, Girls & Boys hostel and residential quarters for Dean, faculty members and other staff have been completed. The college from its very inception had adopted a very progressive policy and extended all possible facilities to the students. The construction works of College of Dairy Technology and Centre for Fisheries Science have been started w.e.f. 2006 -07 by UPRNN & C&DS Jal Nigam Respectively.
 
 LOCATION OF THE COLLEGE
 
Etawah is well connected with all important cities of UP and other parts of the country by roadways and railways. Most of the trains on Delhi-Howarh trunk route stop at Etawah railway station. The college campus is bifurcated by national highway NH-2, on one side of it lie the college building, boys hostel, medical health centre, farm etc. while on the other side are girls’ hostels, VIP guest house and residential campus for faculty and staff.

The college is located near Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Government District Hospital. It is approximately 2 km from Etawah railway station and 3 km from roadways bus station. Two seater tempo and rickshaws are available at nominal charges from both the places.

 Salient Features of the Departments:
 
To run the various disciplines in the effective manner we have ten approved departments as follows:

The efforts are also being made to create departments of agricultural sciences and applied sciences and humanities to understand the basic principles of engineering and technology. At present out of approved departments only four disciplines namely Agricultural Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering studies at the level of undergraduate are being conducted in full flow.

In Agricultural Engineering college has a good infrastructure facilities in respect of laboratories equipped with equipments and machineries in Farm Machinery, Farm Power, Ergonomics, Hydrology, Soil Water & Conservation, Irrigation and Drainage Engg., Post Harvest and Food Processing, Dairy Engg and Renewable Energy.

In the discipline of Mechanical Engg., we have very good workshop facilities comprising of machine shop, carpentry shop, blacksmithy shop, fitting shop, welding shop and forging & moulding shop equipped with modern workshop machines and tools. In addition to this the laboratory facilities in heat transfer, heat engine, refrigeration & air conditioning, engineering drawing, material testing, measurement & meteorology are also available at this college. CAD Lab has been also with required software been established.

To provide the effective teaching in the Electronics and Communication Engineering branch we have a good infrastructure of the labs which are as follows:

Above stated labs are equipped with modern equipment like transistor kits to perform transistor characteristics, OP-amp kits, PLL-kits, VCO-kits, filter kits, Cathode ray Oscilloscopes (CRO), function generators, IC Tester, Power supply, various analog and digital ICs, kits for the measurement of temperature, strain, intensity of light, angular measurement etc. The microprocessor lab is equipped with the kits of 8085, 8086 along with the interfacing facilities. The electrical lab is equipped with transformer and DC machine to understand the various concepts of transformer and DC machines.

We have a liasioning with the prestigious institutions like HBTI Kanpur, KNIT Sultanpur, IET Lucknow, IIT Kanpur etc. to provide exposure in various fields of this discipline as per their requirement.

To run the course of Computer Science & Engg., this department consists of ISDN line, dialup connection and V-SET for internet facility, all computers are connected with LAN facility and many softswares are available as per the requirement of undergraduate students. This department comprises many labs such as networking lab, computer application lab, RDBMS lab, data structure lab etc. to run the computer courses smoothly. The efforts are being made to improve networking lab and others lab by procuring the different softwares.

  Hostel facility
 
The college campus has got four hostels viz. Boys’ and Girls’ hostels with each capacity of 100-200 & 40-50 rooms respectively. Mess facility is available in each hostel and this is managed by students. However respective wardens and chief warden strictly monitor / maintain the hostel disciplines. All the students must adhere and abide by the hostel rules. Telephone facility is also available in hostels. Two more hostels, one for boys having capacity 100 rooms and another for girsls having capacity 50 rooms likely to be handed over.

Wet canteen facility is provided. Efforts are being made to provide other facilities to in the activity centre of the college. However facilities like barber shop, laundry, internet shop/ PCO and general store are provide.

The building is for Advance Medical Center is available but for want of requisite medical staff it is used as hostel. For health care/ adjoining Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Government District Hospital is used.

The infrastructure for banking and postal services is available but so far it is not functional even after serious correspondences with the concerned authorities. Hence the bank and post office facilities are available out side of the campus.
 
  Guest House Facility:
 

VIP guest house has come up in the residential campus. This VIP guest house need to be brought up with modern facilities. However a small guest house adjoining VIP guest with a three room set with attached bath room and toilet is available.

Games and sports facilities are available at the college campus. Time to time inter institute competitions are also organized. Gymnasium hall is being used for indoor games.

The college has well equipped computer laboratory, having latest brand and latest generation of computers and peripherals. Presently the college has 71+19 computers in labs including computers of CAD Lab.

Students are encouraged to participate in indoor and outdoor games. It is compulsory also. Every year various matches, competitions and other events are organized.

  National Service Scheme:
 

The participation in NSS is compulsory to each student during their degree programme. The main aim of NSS is to inculcate a sense of national and social responsibility amongst the students. Under NSS they have to participate in programmes related to environment, health and education.

  Cultural and Literary Activities:
 
In order to boost up dormant talents of the student in the field of cultural and literature, various activities are organized such as debate, paper presentation, seminars. quiz competition, solo, duet, music, dance etc. The student are also publishing magazine under literary activities. An engineering society of the students has also been functioning to give boost to cultural and literary activities and each student is advised to become member of this society right from very beginning.

 TRAINING AND PLACEMENT:
 
There is a training and placement coordinator who arranges the summer field training of one month mandatory for all the B Tech students at the end of the third year degree programme. However B Tech (Ag Engg) students are provided to go for two trainings at private/public /government organizations at the end of second year and third year. Four months in-plant training is also required in to B Tech students in the last semester of fourth year. A full fledge training and placement cell is actively working at University Campus under the active supervision of Director, Training and Placement. A sum of Rs. 100/- as a registration fee is charged from the final year students The detials of placed students are given in Table.

 PERFORMANCE OF B-TECH FINAL YEAR STUDENTS
 
About 90 percent B Tech final year students who appeared in All India Higher Degree Admission Examination tests like JRF, GATE, MBA etc. have been selected with very good ranks with their own efforts as well as guidance and support of able faculty members during the year 2002. CAET ranked first at all India Level in JRF 2002 test on the basis of number of successful candidates. Thus college students performance was found excellent.

 ADMISSION POLICY
 
Students are admitted to the under graduate programme through SEE-UPTECH (State Entrance Examination) conducted by UPTECH, Lucknow, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh. Seats are allotted according to the merit of the students in SEE-UPTECH and their choice at the time of counselling 20089 onward students are taken through UPCATET.
 
 Eligibility Requirement
 
Candidates who have passed intermediate of U.P. Board (10+2) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) or Agriculture (only for B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering) candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examinations or have appeared and the results are awaited, are also eligible to appear in SEE-UPTECH / UPCATET for admission in B.Tech degree programmes . However, the eligibility of a candidates for admission shall be forfeited if the candidate is unable to produce the result of the qualifying examination at the time of counselling.

 FUTURE THEME:
 
Baba Sahab Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, Etawah a faculty of technology of the Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology Kanpur, is just 12 years old but has made indelible foot prints in the field of Agricultural Engg Education in UP. It is our main aim to equip this college to respond positively to the challenges of the future in the field of Agricultural Engineering & Technology teaching, research and extension. This college has an excellent infrastructure in terms of buildings, research farm and good opportunity to under graduate & postgraduate education in the field of Ag. Engg. & Basic engineering disciplines. By opening new branches of engineering like Civil engineering, electrical engineering, master degree in Agric. business management, Process and Food Engg., MBA, MCA, M Tech in farm machinery & power, soil & water conservation and post harvest technology will be useful to utilize the infrastructure facilities existing in the college. This however will require to upgrade various laboratories, provision of adequate teaching staff, audio visual aids, transport facilities etc.
