Krishi Vigyan Kendra , Thariaon, Fatehpur is working since 1989 under umbrella of Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur. It is located on the NH-2 (GT Road) in between Allahabad and Kanpur, 23 Kms away from district headquarter Fatehpur.Fatehpur district is one of the 71 districts of Utter Pradesh state in northern India. It lies between the parallel of 35-260’ and 26-160’ north latitude & between 80-140’ and 81-200’ east longitude spreading about 104 km from west to east longitude and about 40 km from south to north. The sacred rivers Ganga and Yamuna surround the District.

This district is situated between two important cities namely, Allahabad ( which is also known as “Prayag”) and Kanpur of state Uttar Pradesh. This is well connected with these cities by train route as well as road route. Fatehpur city is situated on National Highway No.2, earlier known as Mughal Road. The distance of Fatehpur city from Allahabad is 117 km and from Kanpur it is 76 km by railway.

Agro-climatic zone & major agro-ecological situations of district fatehpur:

Major farming systems / enterprises (based on the analysis made by the KVK):

S.N. Farming System / Enterprise
1 AES-III is most crop intensive. Rice-wheat, Rice-potato-chillies; Rice-wheat-sugarcane etc. crop Rotations are practiced in this AES. In AES I, the mixed cropping combinations of jowar + arhar + moong, / urd +til is practiced. Fallow-gram /lentil is also grown in AES I. In AES IV, (affected with sodicity) mostly Rice-wheat is grown.
2 Potato & chillies are important vegetable crops grown in AES III & IV in the cropping systems of dhaincha – potato moong -fallow; paddy-potato-moong; chillies-gram / wheat, etc.
3 Aonla & banana are new introductions grown along the river Gangs, now expanding to other areas also. The market support is good where grown in pockets.
4 Muskmelon & watermelon are grown in riverbeds. Sugarcane grown for juice purpose, raising buffalo heifers for sale and gur making in Dhata are special components of the existing farming systems.
5 District lacks the high value agro-forestry plantations and the existing plantations like Mahua, do not have technical & developmental support, which is must.

 

Description of Agro-climatic Zone & major agro ecological situations (based on soil and topography):

District Fatehpur lies in Central Plane Zone “V” of U.P.( Agro-climatic Zone). It lies between the parallel of 35- 260′ and 26- 160′ north latitude & between 80-140′ and 81-200′ east longitude spreading about 104 km from west to east longitude and about 40 km from south to north.

The district is characterized by semi-humid as per standard climatic classification. Average rainfall of the district is 904 mm. Maximum temperature 42OC to 43OC & minimum average temperature goes up to 6Oc.Relative humidity of the district is 66. The climate of the district could be described as semi arid. a). Recent Alluvium (Fatehpur Type-1)
Developed from Ganga alluvium, mature, loam, greyish brown to brow, iron nodules and calcareous cherries, loose, moderate high soluble salts, moderately alkaline and fairly drained. Respond to fertilizers. Jowar, bajra, Arhar, barley, Mustard, Gram etc Occurs on the banks of Ganga covering an area of 41,508 ha.
b). Ganga Flats (Fatehpur type 2A Fatehpur type 2B). Developed from Ganga alluvium mature, loam to clay loam, light brown to grayish brown, brown ferruginous mottling, hard below, average very high soluble salts, alkaline with adequate drainage slightly responds to fertilizer application. Almost all the important crops. This type of soils are spreaded over an area of 191588 ha. of the district.
(c).Ganga uplands (FatehpurType-3) Developed from Ganga alluvium, mature, sandy loam, yellowish brown to reddish brown, Iron nodules below, loose, low soluble salts, slightly acidic to neutral, having excessive drainage, soils responsive to fertilizer treatment. All important crops except Paddy. Intensity of this type is limited to only 60420 ha.
d).Ganga low lands (Fatehpur Type-4) Developed from Ganga alluvium, mature clay loam to clayey, grey brown, ferruginous mottling, hard and compact, low soluble salts slightly acidic to neutral imperfect drainage. Rice, Wheat, Mustard, Gram and Sugarcane. Spreaded in Bindki, Fatehpur, Khajuha block& Ghazipur. Total area is 42964 ha.
2 Yamuna Alluvium Khadar Uplands (Fatehpur type-5) (Rakar) Developed from Yamuna alluvium, partially mature, loamy sand to gravelly, reddish brown to concretions, loose, low soluble salts, neutral to alkaline with excessive drainage. Jowar, Gram, mustard and Castor. Occupy an area of about 42,652 ha.
3 a).Yamuna flats (Fatehpur type 6A)(Parwa) Developed from Yamuna alluvium, mature sandy loam, dark grayish brown, ferruginous concretion, loose, low soluble salts, neutral to slightly alkaline with excessive drainage. Castor, Wheat and Gram. Occupy an area of about 40932 ha
b).Yamuna low lands. Fatehpur type 6B)(Kabar) Developed from Yamuna alluvium, partially mature clay loam, light brownish gray to black, few kanker nodules, average soluble salts, moderately alkaline with imperfect drainage. Castor, Gram, Wheat, and Rice. Occupy an area of about 30134 ha

Live Streaming of Vaigayniko ki Baath, Kisano ke Saath 30 As per the directives of ICAR-ATARI, Kanpur and UP Govt,  Vaigyaniko ki Baat , Kisano ke Saath   was telecasted on 4 Feb, 2020 at KVK, Fatehpur . On the occassion Farmers Gosthi was organized and farmers were benefitted by  listening the interaction of scientist along with Minister of Agriculture Utter Pradesh.
Innovative farmers interaction day 60 A Interaction day organized at farmers field. Dr.D.Swaroop, Dr.N.Alam and  Smt.Alka Katiyar with District officials, progressive farmers of other district participated and benefitted .
Celebration of Independence Day and Honor of DFI Farmers 20 Independence day was celeberated and Two Progressive farmers of DFI village honored by Dr.R.K.Singh, Officer Incharge KVK Fatehpur, on Independence Day.
Innovative Farmers & Scientist interaction day 300 Innovative farmers interaction day organized and field visit was conducted at farmer’s field followed by gosthi  in which H’ble  VC, State Minister , MLA Bindiki, DE CSA, DM Fatehpur, DD and other officials.
Celebration of Poshan Mah (Poshan Week andPoshan Day) 650 Under Poshan Mah , several programme were organized at KVK, Kasturba Gandhi Vdhyalay and faremrs’s field.

Nutritious fodder day 20 Nutritious Fodder day was conducted under FLD in Aspirational village Chitauli.
Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan Trainings 35×18=630 As per guideline due to pandemic Covid -19 , 18 number of trainings on different topics (self employment) was conducted for migrant of Fatehpur district with 35 participants in each batch . Programme was covered in different news paper broadcasted on different news channel.
 Visit of H’ble VC 50 H’ble VC visited KVK farm and units, had discussion with scientist and progressive farmers.

Innovative day-Field Visit 25 Innovative day-Field Visit was organized at farmer’s field doing Perl cultivation (Moti farming) in which H’ble VC along with district officials, scientist and progressive farmers, had interacted with progressive farmer Ramesh Singh.
Mela-Farmer’s Interaction Day 400 One day farmer’s scientist interaction/ Kisan Mela organized at KVK in which H’ble MLA Sadar Shri Vikram Singh graced the occasion and farmer’s were benefitted by technical session.
Oilseed – Pulse day 50 Under CFLD programme oilseed-pulse day was organized in which farmers were given technical advice for sowing and seed was distributed.
