Dr. Jagdish Prasad Chaurasiya Ph.D. student Department of Genetics & Plant Breeding attended three months (March 09, 2020 to June 15, 2020) international training on “CIMMYT, Maxico”. He was interacted with the scientists and technicians who are very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly to interact. The working environment and research facilities in the CIMMYT helped him to learn research methodologies without any stress and difficulties. He started his research training from Obregon research center, apart from his research training, Mr. Chaurasiya participated in the training under Global wheat programme and visited hybrid wheat field as well as other field trails. This training was very informative and used to conduct field visits after every lecture, which got a lot of information likes hybrid wheat, durum wheat research trail, triticale, lodging, drought and heat and rust. Apart from this he was also trained in area of land mark genotypes. He engaged in field work, particularly individual plant selection from segregating and advanced generation most challenging and yet very interesting job to do. After the Mexican government order regarding to Covid-19, the research center was closed for trainees. Hence, his 75 % of research training was at CIMMYT, Maxico and he brought to the El Batan center Texcoco and there he was given online lectures. In online lecture, he learned about statistical programme likes R and other likes genomic assisted breeding etc. In El Batan Mr. Chaurasiya got to see a hybrid wheat production on CMS Based trail in a green house, where he trained on A line, B lines and blend for checking the efficiency of both the methods. He got lot of information by this trial. Apart from his research, he gained skills through his guide as well as other scientists. Faculty of CIMMYT, Maxico trained Mr. Chaurasiya to develop research competency, subject competency etc.
